Energy Efficiency

These days, the buzz is all about Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Capital Electric Cooperative (CEC) is committed to helping our members improve their energy consumption while also encouraging the use of renewable energy.

CEC recommends a number of high efficiency products such as geothermal heat pumps, air-to-air heat pumps, electric fireplaces, plenum heaters, and Marathon water heaters. We also promote additional cost savings on many of these products through incentives associated with our load management discount electric rates. Furthermore, this web site and related energy links provides for numerous energy saving tips. CEC members may also contact our Member Services staff who are available to help you find the right energy saving options for you.

In terms of renewable energy, we feel it is extremely important to promote alternative environmentally clean, energy options. To encourage this, CEC's purchases of electricity from Basin Electric provide an energy portfolio to our members that includes wind energy, heat recovery, and other forms of green/recycled power. Additionally, Capital Electric Cooperative purchases approximately 5% of its electricity needs in the form of hydro power from the Western Area Power Administration.
