These days, the buzz is all about energy efficiency and renewable energy. Capital Electric Cooperative is committed to helping our members improve the energy consumption of their home or business, while also encouraging the use of renewable energy.

Capital Electric recommends a number of high-efficiency products such as geothermal heat pumps, air-to-air heat pumps, electric fireplaces, plenum heaters, and Marathon water heaters. We also promote additional cost savings on many of these products through incentives associated with our load management discount electric rates. This website and related energy links provide for numerous energy-saving tips. If you are a Capital Electric member and would like to learn more about an energy audit, click here. Members may also contact our Member Services staff, who are available to help you find the right energy-saving options for you.

In terms of renewable energy, we feel it is extremely important to promote alternative energy options that are environmentally clean. One way in which Capital Electric accomplishes this is by purchasing electricity from Basin Electric Power Cooperative, which provides an energy portfolio that includes wind energy, heat recovery, and other forms of green/recycled power. Additionally, Capital Electric purchases approximately 5 percent of its electricity needs in the form of hydropower from the Western Area Power Administration.
