Over the years, Capital Electric Cooperative’s (CEC) membership has grown as new consumers have moved into our service area located in Burleigh County and Southern Sheridan County. Though our membership has increased, our cooperative continues to pride itself on providing reliable electricity at affordable and fair rates to the member-owners of CEC.

CEC offers a number of tools to make life easier for our members. We provide for many payment solutions, including Pay By Bank, Drop Boxes, and Budget Billing. CEC also offers a web solution called E-Bill that allows members to inquire on and pay a bill online, enter meter readings, choose to receive electronic bill notification via email, view historical information and graphs, etc. Furthermore, we utilize an Automated Meter Reading system (AMR) that eliminates the need for the manual reading of meters and reduces human error and lag time on bills.

A number of discount load management electric programs are in place at CEC today. The first, called Off-Peak Electric Heat, is available if a customer uses electricity as their heat source and also has an alternative type of heat backup available. Another, called All Electric Heat, is where no alternative type of heat backup is required. Other discounts include a Water Heater Credit that can be earned on your bill each month and an off-peak load control program is also available for Irrigation accounts. CEC offers ERC loans at low interest rates for members to install Geothermal Heat Pumps, Air-To-Air Heat Pumps, and other Energy Efficiency Improvements to their homes. Loan programs are also available for central air conditioning.

CEC is also proud to stay on top of the latest technology. We utilize the latest software applications that allow us to perform such tasks as:

Electronically open and close breakers that re-route power over different paths in order to insure the very minimum number of consumers are affected in an outage.
Electronically read and track a member’s meter status and reading in real time over our electric lines.
Predict the size and location of an outage based on initial notifications we receive from our members.
