Pay by Bank lets your financial institution do all the work. Each month, the amount due on your Capital Electric bill you receive is deducted from your checking or savings account automatically on the due date of the billing, which is usually about the 10th of the month. There is no check for you to mail. Pay by Bank pays your bill automatically.
Pay by Bank usually goes into effect after the next energy billing you receive from Capital Electric. Thus, you will have one more billing to pay by check before Pay by Bank takes effect. However, we will send you a letter confirming the month Pay by Bank will start on your account.
It's simple. Either download the Pay by Bank Authorization Form, sign up electronically through Ebill, (Capital Electric's Online Account Access tool) or Call us at 701-223-1513 or toll free in western North Dakota, 888-223-1513, and ask us to send or email you the Pay by Bank Authorization Form. You just fill it out and attach a blank check or savings deposit slip marked "Void" so we can obtain the bank information needed to process the payments. Return both to Capital Electric at your convenience.
Nothing at all. In fact, you will save money and time with no check-writing costs, no postage expense and more free time. Not only that, but you get to hold onto your money longer--until the actual due date of your bill.
Absolutely. All you have to do is make sure there is enough money in your account. Pay by Bank takes care of the rest. Your bill is always paid, and your credit is always in good standing.
If you have a dispute on your billing, you can authorize your bank to stop your Pay by Bank payment for that month. However, if you do have a dispute on your billing, please contact Capital Electric first to attempt to resolve the dispute.
Although you will not have a cancelled check for your receipt, the deduction for your monthly Capital Electric billing will be shown on your checking or savings account bank statement each month.
Pay by Bank can work for you, even if you have a self-read meter. However, you will need to either call in, enter it online via Ebill, or mail your meter reading into the office each month.
