General Manager Lars Nygren and Carol Larson, co-op legal counsel with Pringle and Herigstad PC in Minot, gave an update on the Boulder Ridge franchising dispute. They discussed the service-area agreement and franchise terminology, Montana-Dakota Utilities’ purported partial cancellation of the agreement, the complaint with the Public Service Commission and the filing for declaratory judgment.
Engineer Ron Lipp provided a brief overview on the four-year construction work plan. He discussed the upcoming budget, new consumers, pole and line maintenance, and meter readings in rural areas. He also outlined a plan for the Circle K and Ward Substations, and says that the transmission loop around the city provides long-range capacity for the future.
Nygren discussed the $600,000 refund that members will receive with their December statement, and says it’s one of the largest the members have seen. The refund was authorized by the board of directors, who agreed that Capital Electric Cooperative should share the gain.
An election was held during the meeting to re-elect board members to the Charitable Trust, also known as Operation Roundup. Members serve three-year terms and are able to serve for six years. Up for re-election were Gordon Felchle and June Brown. Both agreed to serve another three-year term. Felchle thanked those who attended for their confidence in their abilities. Nygren thanked them in return for their volunteer efforts and good work
