Capital announces board candidates
In March and April 2008, Capital Electric Cooperative advertised in its North Dakota LIVING center pages a need to recruit members who will serve as board of director candidates. Three seats on the board will be vacated in June at the annual meeting. In District 1: one seat by Blaine Doppler, and in District 2: two seats held by Bernard Falkenstein and Duane “Rusty” Lasher.
Your electric cooperative also formed a Nominating Committee consisting of nine members who agreed to recruit candidates. The co-op’s board of directors set April 10 as the deadline for receiving members’ pledges to seek election. The Nominating Committee then met to review the list of potential candidates.
This May, Capital Electric is pleased to announce our members answered the call! Thirteen candidates will place their names on the ballot and seek election at the annual meeting, which will be held June 3 at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck. Upon confirmation of eligibility, the Capital Electric Cooperative board of directors approved the following list of candidates:
District 1

Candidates will be given a brief time allotment at the annual meeting to introduce themselves and explain their qualifications. Members will then vote for ONE candidate from District 1 and TWO candidates from District 2. At least one director from this district must reside in sub-district 2A. The second director will be elected on an at-large basis and can reside in either sub-district A or sub-district B.
Official notice of Capital Electric’s 62nd annual meeting will be mailed to members in May.
