Stein hired to work in Wing

Residents in Wing welcomed a new lineworker to the cooperative service

Trent Stein, Wing lineworker

area in early May. Capital Electric recently hired Trent Stein, who will maintain lines and poles, both overhead and underground.

Stein was hired to replace Bob Hanson, who retired May 1. As a journeyman lineworker, Stein brings several years of work experience to the cooperative. He previously worked for the city of Breckenridge, Minn., for a municipality, and for Dawson Public Power in North Platte, Neb.

A native of Cogswell, Stein wanted to return to North Dakota, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from the Bismarck State College lineworker program and worked for Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative as summer help before moving to Nebraska.

Stein says a cooperative is similar to a municipality in that neither organization operates a business to make money. Other similarities include the working routine, the maintenance of equipment, and the policies on tools and safety.

Following his first two months of employment, he says he enjoys the rural atmosphere and the welcome he and his family received from the residents in Wing.

Stein’s wife, Larissa, works part-time in Bismarck for Medcenter One. They have an 18-month-old son, who Trent will likely teach hunter safety, if his son shares his passion for hunting deer and ducks.

If you see Trent driving a bucket truck or fixing a pole, give him a smile and wave, and help us welcome him to the cooperative family.
