Capital hires billing clerk/secretary

Michelle Colton joined Capital Electric at the beginning of April to process payments, answer phones and greet customers. She filled a position that was recently vacated by Alyssa Binstock. As a billing clerk and secretary, Michelle will also provide general office support.

Colton brings several years of customer service and professional experience to the cooperative. She previously worked for a bank and a real estate agency in Bismarck and Minot.

Her education includes two years of basic studies at Bismarck State College (BSC) before transferring to Minot State University (MSU) for a year. She later moved back to Bismarck to take the BSC/MSU extended criminal justice program at night. She graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.

Colton’s education and transferable skills will allow her to process statements and effectively communicate with customers. While she is new to the cooperative family and philosophy, Colton is already learning the importance of serving our member-owners.

Even though she’ll be learning about distribution lines and substations for a long time to come, Colton quickly adapted to helping walk-in customers.

“I love that we stay so busy. You would not believe all the customers that come through that door. We have a lot of foot traffic,” she says.

A native of Golden Valley, Colton enjoys spending time with family, friends and her dog Libby, a Shih Tzu-Pekinese cross.
