Capital Electric consumers Lyle and Carol Morast create a winter wonderland each year at their home south of Bismarck. In early November, Lyle and his 13-man crew from Do-Mor Construction work hard to place endless strings of lights on the trees surrounding his house on Woodvale Drive. They then add lights and lighted decorations to the house and the front yard. The entire production is anchored by a solemn nativity scene in the center of the drive.
All in all, Lyle estimates the display includes 30,000 lights. There are even two trees decorated in Minnesota Viking purple and gold, as well as a patriotic area illuminated in red, white and blue. A total of 21 trees are included in the lighted panorama.
Lyle and Carol have lived in the home since 1996. According to Lyle, “We just started small and it seems to grow each year. I already have some ideas for next year’s display. It’s definitely worth the extra $150 per month in electricity.”
