More than 240 students thanked Capital Electric for making a donation to their playground. Many of the area’s students, along with Prairie Rose Elementary School, are served by Capital Electric Cooperative. |
To show how much the students appreciated receiving an Operation Round Up grant in February, the school’s Parent Teacher Club (PTC) invited co-op staff to the school. More than 240 children applauded as Wes Engbrecht, director of communications and public relations for Capital Electric, stood behind a hand-drawn check with Principal Jean Hall. The check represented Operation Round Up money awarded to the PTC.
“The board of directors who serve on the Charitable Trust award grants without expecting anything in return. But when these students invited us to the school and gave me such a warm welcome, it does give something back to Capital Electric. It reminds us just how important this program is, and how a few pennies can make such a big difference,” Wes says.

“Your grant absolutely does help,” says Sanstead,
who also received donations from Bismarck Parks and Recreation, the Bismarck Public School District and Lowe’s®.
Sanstead also gives credit to the students and families
of Prairie Rose Elementary, for raising more than $15,000 in a raffle.
“We’re a small school with really committed teachers, parents and students who all worked really hard to fund-raise for this project. It’s a great feeling to know our kids are a part of such a great learning environment.”
